My new retelling is now available as an advance reader copy (ARC). An Unbreakable Bond is a retelling of the Māori folktale, Kōpūwai the Ogre, and will release in The Call of the Sea dark fantasy anthology on October 1st, 2026.

About An Unbreakable Bond:

When Hinewai’s mother arranges her marriage to the clan’s most acclaimed warrior, the young woman can’t bring herself to accept the decision made without consulting her. Terrible omens have plagued the village, but in running from her family’s expectations, Hinewai accidentally stumbles upon truths that not only change her, but transform her understanding of the world she lives in. Can she embrace the potential of new opportunities or will Hinewai ultimately be forced to return to her people and accept their dreams for her future?

Note that this is a tragic retelling of the Māori folktale, Kōpūwai, the Ogre which features character deaths.

Content warning: multiple character deaths (off-page); toxic relationship including gaslighting, manipulation, possessive behavior, borderline physical abuse and lies; violence; and two instances of on-page character death. No animals die in this story (there are a lot of those).

All spicy scenes are fade-to-black. On-page, there is intense kissing.
